It's the post we've all been waiting for. Click the button to find out how my expedition to Everest actually went...
Miha had suggested that I come out to take on the North Face of Triglav for a weekend, with climbing Triglav itself being a right of passage for all true Slovenians. The face is around 800m high and seriously impressive and exposed in places.
This was also an interesting trip for me as my IBD symptoms were starting to become quite severe. At the time I did not know what was wrong with me and hadn't been diagnosed, so climbing a face of that size whilst feeling so weak and questionable was a terrible idea with hindsight. With the help of Immodium and stubbornness I got through it, but it was also what gave me the kick to go and get myself checked out.
For anyone else who might be experiencing symptoms, my advice would be get to a doctor asap!
Approaching Triglav - I've no idea what this monument is, but it's pretty cool
Looking up at our objective
Although it's scrambling, it starts to get steep pretty quickly...
and then pretty exposed...
Some interesting traverses thrown in for good measure too - breathe in!
Don't forget to clean the gear as you go!
Spectacular views from near the top. This and the next section were so exposed it felt like an ACME cartoon where Roadrunner would fall all the way down into the valley floor below with a long whistle
Finally making it over the lip of the North Face, feeling like shit from undiagnosed and unmedicated colitis
Spectacular sunset on the way to the airport
The same sunset out of the side window
